All You Need To Know About Getting Started.

Welcome to our Clinic

Our team at North Okanagan Orthodontics greatly appreciates the opportunity to be your orthodontic provider and we look forward to meeting you and your family. Straightening teeth and transforming smiles is our mission and we can’t wait to prove our expertise to you and your loved ones.

About Your First Visit

At your first visit with us, Drs. Kersey or Tran and the team will spend time getting to know you and understand what your goals are. We will gather the information necessary to examine all aspects of your smile and bite. We truly believe in patient-centred care and understanding what your main concerns are. Although this appointment will be a little lengthy (about 60 minutes), it is an important initial step to ensure beautiful and long-lasting results. Please feel free to ask any preliminary questions you may have at this time as we are always happy to provide advice and assist you in any way possible regarding insurance, payment plans and scheduling. We do our best to make sure our treatment plans are clear and without hidden surprises. A letter summarizing your orthodontic assessment will be sent to your dentist the same day, so you won’t have to remember relaying the information to them yourself.

Review of New Patient Forms

We will email these forms to you after your first contact with us as a new patient or after scheduling your initial consultation with us. Additionally, these forms will also be available for you to complete at your first visit should you prefer.

Photographs

If records are recommended at the initial consultation, we will take photographs of your face, teeth and bite to assist in the comprehensive diagnosis of your orthodontic case.

Radiographs

X-rays of your teeth and facial structures may be captured if necessary. If your dentist has taken these recently, we will have them forwarded to us.

Digital 3D Impressions

Gone are the days of messy and uncomfortable impressions thanks to the advent of the iTero digital scanner. This magnificent tool creates 3D digital scans that can be used to plan treatment, fabricate appliances, and evaluate progress of your treatment. It captures thousands of images of the dental anatomy including the mouth, teeth and gums. From start to finish the process takes approximately 10 minutes.

Financial Information

Because every smile is unique and different in their own way, treatment prices vary on an individual level. We do our best to deliver affordable, flexible payment plans and treatment options for everyone. At your first visit, we will provide you with an estimate of treatment costs and options for financing. Our experienced staff will also assist you with providing forms for you to submit to your dental insurance.

Following Visit

Following the introductory and information-gathering visit, Drs. Kersey and Tran will review your case together in comprehensive detail to develop a final treatment plan that may include a variety of options that will lead to a great result. A second appointment at our office will be a final consultation appointment, where you will have the opportunity to meet with your treating doctors in person to learn about the recommendations and plan in detail. This second visit is approximately 45 minutes and will be booked at the conclusion of your introductory visit. In general, second appointments occur 2-3 weeks after your first visit. If you prefer an over the phone consultation for more convenience, our treatment coordinator is happy to provide this to you. At the end of this consultation you will be provided with the following information:

  • what type of orthodontic treatment is recommended
  • the best time to begin orthodontic treatment
  • treatment options available
  • estimated treatment duration
  • treatments costs
